We were greeted so warmly and welcomed in to the pub! It's really traditional inside, which really befits the area. We had lunch - great prices and excellent portions. I had local lamb, and my partner had steak and kidney pie. Both were delicious, with perfectly cooked meat. The food is good, hearty, traditional English pub food - and I mean that as a significant compliment. I eat a lot of modern European and gastropub food, and it was so refreshing to find somewhere with a really well executed, 'old-school' pub menu. I also had the ham hock terrine to start - again a generous portion, and easily one of the better ones I've had. Delicious local beer too! The staff were so friendly and seemed to have great conversations with all guests - it made it feel a really positive place to be!

Outstanding food! We were staying in self catering nearby and visited on 2 occasions for food. Our group of 10 sampled most of the menu and all were very happy. The food is locally sourced and very fresh. The presentation is fantastic. The service is friendly and efficient. Meals are restaurant quality, fresh, rich and flavoursome. It is levels above your standard pub grub. The bar had a very good selection of drinks. There is free on site parking and indoor/outdoor seating available. Highly highly highly recommended. Food & drinks: Top quality restaurant and bar.

Lovely place, solid good English food. Should have chosen a ground floor room, but that was my mistake. The host gave us good advice about local views. Clearly a great place for cyclists to stay, as there were many there and getting everything they needed. Would stay again!

Came in twice whilst staying in the area, 1st night the lady was nice and said we had missed the food as it finished at 7.45pm and she recommended somewhere else for us to go, all fine. The next night we went down at 5.10pm no one was in the restaurant just two people sitting at the bar, asked if they had a table for food to be meet by a very rude woman who just said nope! No sorry we’re fully booked or sorry for whatever reason it was that we couldn’t have a table to eat? I work in hospitality and would never talk to customers that way….NOPE just plain rude!

We sat outside after a long cycle ride. The food was excellent. The beer was well kept and tasty. The service was exceptional. The barmaid took our orders in a timely manner, served our food quickly and checked to make sure everything was ok. She was very friendly.

We stayed in May this year and had to come back because location, food, staff etc really excellent. So, stayed again this Sunday gone. This time I had the roast lamb dinner, so tender you don't need a knife to cut the lamb! Breakfast I had haddock and poached egg, wonderful as naturally smoked. Already planning to return, hopefully in Sept but definitely latest for our anniversary in November. Rooms: Very comfortable and very clean, everywhere! Nearby activities: Location is superb, near Kielder Lake and Water Park and in AONB - Kielder country park. Walkability: Lovely area to walk! And Kielder Lakeside Park very short drive by car or medium walk to get there. Food & drinks: Food is excellent.

This was long weekend break...two nights. Welcome on arrival, beautiful room and bathroom. Comfy bed. Well stocked bar and excellent menu. All our meals, breakfast and evening, were first class. Very pleasant and jolly staff, always helpful. Definitely recommend and we'll definitely return. Nearby activities: Fantastic scenery, great for walking, cycling & touring.

A very warm welcome from Emma when we arrived on Thursday lunchtime. Stayed for two nights with supper there on both nights - to be honest, food was so good I couldn't imagine wanting to go anywhere else. Breakfast also excellent. All the staff were super, great service from them all. A fantastic asset to this fabulous pub restaurant situated in such an amazing location.

We just had a lovely meal at the Pheasant Inn, we're staying locally and the owner recommended the Inn for a birthday meal. Between us we had the lamb, and the Cumberland Sausages and they were delicious. The service was great and the staff were lovely (and chatty about Tatty Devine necklaces similar to what I was wearing!) Will definitely visit again when we're staying in the area.

Lovely 1 night stay . Excellent food- had fabulous evening meal of pickled herring starter and ox cheek main with hubby having pepper and tomato soup then chicken with pesto. Breakfast has to be pre-ordered which I'm not keen on as I normally want something different come morning but understand why and it speeded up service. Had porridge then smoked haddock and poached egg with toast and he of course had English breakfast. Rooms were nice we had a one in courtyard. Couple of issues as radiator wouldn't switch off and I was too hot so they had to turn heating off totally. Also pleased we were already awake when neighbours had shower as it sounded like someone was hammering through wall! Lovely bar with LOADS of whiskeys and lots of choice of drinks and couple of hand pulled beers. Great staff and lots of parking
